Some back information: I've been a Casino Dealer for 11 years, I've been a supervisor for five years, and I've been a Surveillance Operator for one year. I've worked at three properties, none of which are connected or owned by the same company. I've worked on : Government/Private/Native American owned casinos.

1. From Hero to Zero.

At my first Casino, I was one of the first group of people who were trained to deal Roulette . He tells me he just sold his car outside and this is all that he had left. So we do the same deal, buys in for $2 chips, then slowly starts betting $5 chips, $10, $25...and he makes $10,000 AGAIN. Within the next 25 minutes it was straight agony. Every spin, same thing, he would bet $2500 in chips, and win only $250, $400, and after about a half hour he lost it all . Never saw the guy again.

At this property, we are 24 hours for table games. It's currently 5AM , and I'm dealing some $25 Blackjack to this guy. He's probably early thirties , heavy guy. I come back, and 45 minutes later, he comes right back in with a oxygen tank and keeps gambling for the remainder of the morning.

After their show, I'm at the roulette table , and five of these boys come over to play. They were absolutely hilarious. On this day, I was actually training dealers / supervising them on small games like Three Card poker. We opened the table at 10AM, and this older man came and sat down . He played all day. 5) Slick Robber
I actually give props to people who can actually pull this off. This story may confuse you so I'll try and explain things as best as possible. So he deposits over $10,000 , then has a small crowbar, he cracks the machine open and makes a run out the front door. To my knowledge he was never caught . But damn, that was pretty smart .

After a busy Saturday night, I was dealing a mix of games, and during this story I was in the middle of Blackjack. I had one young kid (probably 19) sitting in the middle, one older male probably in his later 40's sitting beside him on his right, and I had a really nice couple in their 20's sitting together at the other side. This young kid wasn't playing just sort of watching, and ever time the old man won he would give this young guy some of his winnings. The older man, was a wine drinker, and he had black between all of his teeth, I'll never forget. He's a little drunk but nothing terrible. As the night goes on, the older man goes and uses the washroom, at which point the couple asked the young guy "Oh was that your dad?" and the young guy says "Hah, no I wish!". The couple and I just looked at each other. This old guy, was in complete control over this kid. Absolutely disgusting. The night ends, and I find out the couple called a few of their friends, and they all waited outside by this old mans truck and beat the living hell out of him. 40 years old, sleeping with a 19 year old, completely brain washed . Very weird.
8) That one co-worker where you just wish they would quit.
One of our co-workers, nice guy but had a very big ego and we as employees just sorta left him alone. One day he had enough of the atmosphere and quit. Now usually when you quit, you cannot come back until you paperwork is finalized. How ever, HR was in that day, and he was given the paperwork the very next day. He came in, cashed in $1000, and made $50,000 in about a hour at the Baccarat table. My manager, was extremely annoyed, because now this guy is just mocking the casino and having the time of his life (Thanks for the big tip by the way :) ) and so he decides to call it quits. Police show up, and management promptly gave him the cash.I though it was absolutely hilarious .

I have decided part of my recovery will include writing out every little detail I can remember about the long road astray that gambling has caused my life. Today is day one and I am ready to reclaim my life from this evil that exists in the world, again. FULL BLOWN ADDICT
I worked hard and was good at my job and was able to stop gambling for a period of time and save enough money to purchase a house. I had a new life ahead of me, a new house and a new best friend in my dog. I had real responsibilities now and cut back on gambling. I stopped playing online as much and started driving the 3 hour drive to the casino to try my luck there. This is where the worst thing that could possibly happen, happened. I won and I won big. I remember bringing $500 to the casino and turning that into $1600. What a rush, but then lost it all. Then as you all know the ATM trips started up and I 0’d out my bank account and decided to try higher denomination slots as a last resort. I put $1200 into a $25 machine and won $25,000. I could not believe my luck, it had to be fate. I went home that night knowing this was my new job, PRO SLOT PLAYER. I was getting 3 months worth of pay in 2 weeks. Time to hit the casino and win 50k. I never hit big that night, I lost my 3 months severance pay and had no answers, only an insurmountable weight on my shoulders. I had to sell my house and move in with family until I could find another job. The same family who I also owed $18,000 to and whom knew about the addiction and betrayal. Years went by and I would have good months and then I would run up my cards other months playing online. I didn’t have any bills so I would make my minimum payments and use my checks and continue this disgusting cycle for 4 years. I felt like a complete loser and the only way out was to hit big again. I would hit big countless times online and would withdraw it to my bank account only to re-deposit it the next week and lose. It is literally the most miserable cycle and so draining mentally and physically.
ROAD TO RECOVERY
I stumbled across a podcast of Joe Rogan’s with a guest named David Goggins. This man is the baddest dude on this planet and the stories he shared on that podcast made me wake up and stop being the victim and realize no one gives a shit and only you can fix you. It was a mindset I needed as I had been the victim for the past 10+years in my own mind. I started researching gambling addiction and what I could do to stop it and became obsessed. I removed myself from all online casinos, stopped watching gambling videos, added gamblock to my PC and phone, and started working out. I bought his audio book and listened to it countless times while exercising. I had a new mindset and I was going to beat this mother fucker. The hours spent staring into a pc screen were now on the road running or learning a good habit like mediation or how to play guitar ect…. I had finally found something that worked, a routine and threw the victim card away. No one was going to save me but myself and I was damned determined to do so. Along the way, I also met someone whom I fell in love with. My life was all starting to come together and I was less than a few months away from paying off nearly 48k worth of debt from gambling. I also listened to Allen Carr’s Easy Way To Stop Gambling audiobook which I highly suggest. Well, as luck would have it COVID-19 strikes and I am working from home now which means I have a lot of spare time on my hands and no one glancing at my personal PC during the quiet times. I started watching more gambling streams on twitch and saw how easy these guys are making bank online gambling. I knew in my mind that these guys are probably not playing with their own money but the little monster snuck up and told me to go ahead and try my luck one time. Prologue:
Hey guys, I'm simply sharing my recent experiences gambling for amusement. This is more of a blog-like post than anything. I'm 24 and I don't live in a location where I can go out to gamble easily. It takes at least 2-3 hours to reach the nearest casino. I can only do it once in awhile and with a conservative bankroll (~300 dollars). I used to love playing texas hold em. I watched youtube videos, bought a book, and studied the game. I win easily in home games but I seemed to consistently get cooled in hands where I was statistically a favorite. Casino earnings wise, I am down at least $800 in texas hold em. After being consistently disappointed at the poker tables, I recently decided to give a new casino game a try. I was looking into baccarat and craps on youtube.
The Story:
Session 1
My parents receive free comp rooms and I had an idea to use their free room to just hang out and have fun with my girlfriend for a weekend. We ended up going to Resort Worlds in Catskills, NY. The vibe I got... wow everything is in red and clearly tailored for the Chinese clientele. Every sign is translated into Chinese and half the patrons are dressed in red to feed their superstitious mindsets (not saying that's bad, I am actually Chinese myself, if anything it made me feel more comfortable). The first night, my girlfriend and I used some free money, courtesy of my parents baccarat winnings, and just played the slots. To no surprise, we lost all of our free money. After eating some great food and sleeping the night at the hotel, the next day we started to use our own money. This began my first session playing craps.
I watched a Youtube video the night before on both baccarat and craps. When my girlfriend and I entered the casino, we were actually heading toward the baccarat tables first. One piece of advice that stuck with me when I did some research on craps was, "If everyone is cheering and ecstatic... check out the table... if everyone is miserable... run." I wanted to breeze by the craps table before heading to baccarat and see if there was any action going on. I heard some clapping while scouting out the craps tables and the faces of the people were generally happy. I told my girlfriend that I'm going to play at this table instead, and she left to go play slots.
Humorously, the table was segregated(not literally) into two sections/halves of White folk and Asian folk. There was one clear opening on the table where the white folk section was and I entered there. I mentioned that it was my first time playing craps to the guy next to me. He was an older white gentlemen who reminded me of Robert De Niro perhaps in his 50s-60s and he had his buddy next to him with a Vietnam war veteran hat on. He was very enthusiastic about teaching me the game, telling me how craps has the best edge in the casino and teaching me how to make the proper bets. He told me not to buy-in until the the point was hit. When I pointed and asked about something going on at the table he yelled "WAIT DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS OVER THE TABLE DURING A ROLL!" and shoved my hands back into me. It was clear that he was very superstitious about this game, and yes, he was also wearing red. He rambled about a lot of things about the game of craps and to be honest, I couldn't understand 60% of what he was saying. I bought in for $100 and mostly played the pass line and the odds bet, which is something I learned on youtube. The older gentlemen encouraged me on and told me that the odds bet is the best bet in the casino and to also make place bets on the 6 and 8 if I wanted. That is how I stuck to playing the whole time.
When the dice came to me, I noticed that previously everyone at the table set the dice in a particular manner. I followed along and simply chose numbers I felt comfortable with, which were double 3's. 3 has always seemed to be my lucky number in life. I now know that simply setting the top number alone is not really "dice setting" because you need to match the numbers on the side of the dice in a consistent manner too. My first three rolls were craps numbers, and I was a little disappointed in myself because I saw everybody losing money. But, the older gentlemen egged me on because he placed money on the "craps" horn bet to "protect himself", and he was still making money. Finally, the craps numbers stopped coming and I started to really roll. It felt like I had the dice for 15 minutes and hit 3 or 4 points.
The older gentlemen said to his friends "We created a monster boys, we have the Messiah here." What is very funny about this statement.... is that all my recent usernames for the videogames I play have been "The Messiah". Also, I was wearing a gold Jesus piece hanging from my neck that day. Perhaps my shooter nickname will now be the Messiah ;)
In the end, my girlfriend wanted to leave but I wanted to wait for a particular Asian fellow to roll the dice because I saw him on multiple hot rolls. The way I approached this first game was based solely off good vibes, patterns, and superstition. In the past, playing texas hold em was very methodical and strategical and that continued to result in me losing money. My mother who is a very superstitious person, always seems to win when gambling. And so, I decided to dump strategy and just go with my gut feelings. When the older gentlemen came back from a break he had, he asked me how the table was going. I said, "I'm about to leave the table but I wanted to wait for this Asian guy to be my last roll because he rolls really good". As soon as I say that, his next roll 7's out. The older gentlemen and I look at each other and we both understood what I "said wrong there". In the end I came out positive $140 and with my buy-in, 140% profit I felt was pretty darn good. I thanked the gentlemen for his help, colored up, and went on my way.
Session 2
Only a few weeks from the first session, my coworkers and I have been talking about planning a trip to the casinos. After my first session, it bolstered my idea to use my coworkers free comp rooms and hangout together in Atlantic City. I also invited my girlfriend to this trip. For my second session, I went to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It didn't matter to me which casino I went to but my coworker wanted to check out this newer built casino because she didn't have a chance yet. Ultimately, we separated to eat food right off the bat, and due to poor phone service and a poor coincidence, I ended up playing craps alone for about 3-4 hours while waiting for my girlfriend to finish work and drive over to head to our free comp room at Harrah's casino.
I hit the tables and was hoping to find a $5 minimum but unfortunately they were all $10. There were only two $10 tables and all the tables were packed, so I had no selection choice this time and simply parked myself into a vacant spot. This time around, I made friends with a younger 30s black gentlemen who looked like an un-kempt Morris Chestnut. Let me tell you, this guy was loud, obnoxious, and just very emotional the entire time. What ruined the vibe a bit, was that he kept shitting on his girlfriend for being a terrible roller. He made statements like "Everytime I bet money on you, I know you're gunna lose. Why do I even bother anymore? You are absolutely terrible and useless". This was not said in a joking manner, and he literally announced it to the entire table. The dealers were clearly getting annoyed with his attitude. He was happy to be with me though because for the most part, I continued to roll well, similar to my first session. Unfortunately, the table as a whole was a bit dry and I ended up losing my first $100 buy-in. I took a 45 minute break to get rid of the mojo, and reentered a new table, but to my surprise, I was standing yet again next to the younger black gentlemen. This time, he put me in between himself and his girlfriend, because he was screaming that his girlfriend was a bad luck magnet. It's funny however, that his girlfriend actually was rolling very terribly that night. She 7'ed out in less than 2-5 rolls every single time. I may need to pull out some Don't Passes in the future for this type of roller ;)
At first, I set the dice with double 3's but it didn't go as well as I had hoped. And my philosophy is, "if it ain't working, change it up". So I ended up switching the set to two 6's. Now, let's not argue about whether dice setting even works, I just do it. My strategy was still the same, pass line and odds. However, I did two place bets every round and solely chose them based on patterns and feelings. For example, I was rolling a lot of 10's that night so I often put place bets on 10 when I rolled. Surprisingly, this strategy actually worked very well for me, and most of the time my two place bets hit very often. And after about 8 rolls, I would usually pull out of my place bets before the 7 out and this worked wonderfully too. The table ended up switching to $15 but I still needed to kill some time before my girlfriend came, so I moved to another $10 minimum table.
There was nothing special about the table except these group of late 30s-mid 40s white women who were on their yearly high school reunion. All blonde and very pretty and definitely what you'd consider MILFS. They said they would only join the table if it had good vibes and if everybody was cheering and clapping for one another. I told her that its not like that currently, but we would love to have you bring that energy here. They ended up buying in right next to me. I was next to the stick on the right side with absolutely nobody on my right side, so they ended up completely filling that spot. One of the girls was standing uncomfortably close to me right behind the stickman and was asking me weird questions. She was clearly piss drunk. Luckily the pit boss noticed this and asked her if she would be more comfortable standing next to her friends. Thank you pit boss....
They wanted to know the names of every roller at the table and constantly cheered and livened up the table for every roll. Unfortunately, the other half of the table wasn't as enthusiastic. One interesting thing that happened this session, is I had a place bet on 6, and turned it off after approximately 8 rolls like I usually do. This ended up not working in my favor, because the woman to my right ended up rolling seven 6's in a row.... WHAT THE HECK.
In the end, I won back the $100 I lost and also went positive $70. I was happy with this result.
Session 3
After sleeping a night at Harrah's Casinos, my girlfriend and I woke up to gamble. She went for the slots again and I went to the craps tables. Hard Rock Casino seems to have a much livelier environment, filled with bright lights and younger people. For me, Harrah's was downright dark, depressing, and filled with a lot of older people. Before my girlfriend left to play slots, I wanted to show her what craps was like and show her the ropes a little. I entered at absolutely the most perfect time.
The man to the right of the stick, a 30s year old white gentlemen who looked like Colin Farrell, was on a hot roll. He made 4 points in a row, on his very first dice roll after the come-out, all 4 times. The dice came to me and I decided to roll the dice differently again. Although I did use the double 6 again, I stacked them on top of each other. Again, my rolls were hot and although I only hit 2-3 points, I had the dice for at least 10 minutes, not 7'ing out easily. The 30 year old gentlemen and I passed compliments at each other after fist bumping. He ended up leaving with his wife and I asked him how well he did. He said he won over $500.
Unfortunately as the game progressed, a rude Indian guy two spots to my left kept passing comments about how slow the game was and how slow the players were. He kept pressing on to tell everyone to hurry the fuck up. Based on the rolling pattern of a roller on a wheelchair to my left, I had a gut instinct that he was going to hit a 12 or 2 because he had been hitting them a lot. I threw in 1 dollar for high and 1 dollar for low at the very end of the betting cycle. The Indian guy then started to yap, whine, and complain about how the progress of the game keeps getting slowed by these molasses players (ie me). In the end, I hit the high 12 and make an easy $30 (yeah screw you). Because of his vibe, I decided it was time to leave and colored up.
I ended up positive $170, and happily took my earnings away to go find my girlfriend. This is where the story becomes a bit more interesting.
My girlfriend used $100 but lost $70. She was sad to have only $30 left and asked me what she should do with it. Should she just dump it into the slot machines, she asked? Before she had left to play slots prior, I offered her to roll the dice at my table, but she was a bit squeamish about doing so without much knowledge of the game, and rightfully so, because craps has always been an intimidating game. However, with only $30 left, and a dream to be had, I told her I would teach her how to play craps, and so we went onward to the craps table!
With a $30 buy in and a babyface, the dealer immediately asked my girlfriend for her ID. When we got our chips, I did not touch the money at all, but simply told my girlfriend where she should place her bets (pass line) and the choices she could make if she wanted to(odds and place bets). The table was alright, allowing our buy in to stay pretty at around $30. The goal was simply to make her $100 back. When the dice came to her, she stepped up to the plate. She decided to random roll it and placed one dice on top of the other. I told her "just throw it at the wall". She proceeded to go on an amazingly long streak. She ended up hitting 4 points and was about to hit the 5th point. The other half of the table were practically off their seats waiting for their "FIRE BETS" to hit the 5th point and make their 230:1 odds. Unfortunately, my girlfriend missed the wall with a light throw and threw them at some chips. And you know what they say.... "when it hits the money, it lands funny." And upon this throw, she ended up 7'ing out, and the other half of the table whined aloud "AWWW". This rude black gentlemen to our left actually insulted my girlfriend and said "Why the fuck would you throw the dice at the chips like that? You have all this room on the table... aim for the damn wall and the open space." I proceeded to tell him that this was her first time rolling and for him to calm down. He responded in disbelief and said, "That is definitely not her first time rolling stop lying. I saw you two at the golden nugget yesterday.... Right...?"
No.... I was not at the golden nugget yesterday. The dealer fought back and also said "HEY, shes just a baby." The man ended up apologizing, yet it makes me think to myself... why people are so unappreciative of a great roll when the end result is always going to be a 7 anyway. And even if we WERE at the golden nugget and this WASN'T her first time rolling, how it would be acceptable for you to talk like that anyway.

ANYWHO, these were my first 3 sessions playing craps. Thanks for reading if you got this far. I hope somebody got some amusement reading these stories. I really enjoy craps because of the camaraderie and energy that the tables can have and the feeling (or illusion) that you can control your fate by being the one to roll your own dice. Also, historically I have not been lucky at gambling games like texas hold em and blackjack, so to win 3 times in a row at craps was a great refresher. Furthermore, the idea of winning money off other people's luck is also very appealing!

tl;dr I played 3 sessions of craps that went really well and my girlfriend also rolled incredibly well her first time. I was planning to play baccarat but actually never did after playing craps.

DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO A DOMESTIC FIGHT
I had just passed through Arlington when the Taco Time began to take hold. The meaty filling and breathtaking sauces had begun to plummet my belly's pH level to a low that now refused all immigrants to my stomach like a pack of Texans at a gun show in a Trump convention. Or something. I turned to my wife and told her we were going to need to stop.
This was a mistake.
She beamed at me and said "How about the Outlet Mall?"
I would like to say I didn't shit my pants. But I shit my pants. I needed to pull over and a thought occurred to me. Well, two thoughts: fireworks and the casino. Any able bodied Washingtonian should know that the Outlet Mall in Tulalip is a win situation. In fact, it's not a bad idea to tell your wife that "Hey, you deserve a treat - let's go to the Outlet Mall in Tulalip." And then drive her up there, stay for the Banana Republic and Starbucks and then "Hey, hon, I might have more fun if I went over to the casino." And then drink until she has to drive and gamble until she has to take all the clothing she bought at the mall back.
So, it was off to the Outlet Mall. Luckily, they sold underwear.
THERE IS NO OUTLET AT THE OUTLETS
Nothing in life is free. And nothing in life is easy. So, I did have to purchase new underwear and I had a little more trouble than I imagined getting out of the Outlet Mall.
The mall seems extremely escapable as it's outside. However, you must be quick with your "Ho-hum, I'll just go to the Casino" story. You must say it nonchalant and give your partner a look that says "I can take it or leave it". Unfortunately for me, she replied "Maybe next time."
I forgot that our chance adventure at the Outlet Mall was a product of me shitting my pants and not a gift on a Saturday of spousal Outlet shopping.
"Look" I said. "I need to sit down and rest. We just spent the last five hours driving from Canada down here and Taco Time made me shit my pants AND I had to go into Banana Republic. I need to chill. This is important to me." Telling a loved one something is important to you is very important. You must use it wisely.
She gave me a look that said that she wouldn't forget it, but I got clearance to leave. I nodded her adieu and made my way through the Outletters.
There is a sick notion in the American mind that goods and services can be had on the cheap by venturing into an Outlet Mall. Nothing can be further from the truth. In fact, the new underwear I was wearing had already begun to split at the seams. There is a reason the Outlets are far away from civilization - it impedes returns.
Teams of tourists surrounded me, looking for bargains, when all I wanted to do was get away from them. The cheap kitchenware and taffy were not the drugs I needed at this time. I needed fireworks, beer, and that feeling that only comes when you pull cash out of a credit card to get your bank account back from the greedy wheel at the roulette table.
"Back, you!" I shouted at the Scientologist that is a permanent fixture at the Outlet Mall.
"But it's just a personality test!" She screamed after me.
"I take that personal!" I screamed back.
Into a Japanese tourist I slammed and spilled their belongings of muffin pans, omelet makers, and fudge named after some damn mountain in Montana that no one knows about or wants to.
Security was on me and took a hold of my collar and shook me like a bag of gold. "Out of here, you joker!" the guard yelled.
"Thank you." I whispered as he shoved me out into the parking lot and on my way to the firework stand.
TWO NATIONS MEET
There's nothing like a firework stand. Well, nothing like a good one: the kind that will sell you enough explosives to get sanctions slapped on you. Tulalip was one.
Much like sister city Auburn, Tulalip did not disappoint in the firework department. They had razzlers, tazzlers, jizzles and phazims. They had rollies, tollies, gollies, and bazims. I made all those words up, but the point is that you simply point at the biggest cannon you see at the stand and say "I'll take that."
Some of the fireworks are themed. There's a Terminator themed pack full of cannons and mortars. There's a Star Wars themed pack of cannons and mortars. There's even a Celebrity Chef pack that has...cannons and mortars.
Because of my hurry and my need to return to my loving wife within the two hours it would take her to figure out nothing fits, I went for the bone: the stuff they pretend they won't sell you unless you act like something illegal is going on.
I approached the fireworks dealer. "Sir - I would like - come closer."
"Yes?" The man asked.
"I hear your firework stand is the best." I cozied up to the register and began toying with a pack of Saturn Missiles seductively.
"Big Tits and Ass Fireworks is the best. My grandfather built Big Tits and Ass Fireworks with his bare hands! Tulalip Nation!" The man screamed and the other firework dealers screamed back.
"Yes, that's all well and good. It is a fine establishment. But tell me this...."
"Yesssss?' He asked, winking.
"Can I get..."
"Yessss?"
"A tennis ball full of....."
"Gun powder?!"
My head shot up and I looked at him cross and said "Good lord, no! Cocaine! Cocaine, my good man! I want to buy cocaine from you!"
Again I was tossed out of an outlet. This time it was the fireworks kind. I had flown too close to the sun. I figured I'd get some sparklers. Then I figured a mortar. Then I figured an M80. Then I just went all in and asked for cocaine. I was severely off my game.
THE CASINO
I got back in the car and began cursing the Tulalip Nation in the only language I knew: English.
Sure, I took some sign language and Spanish, but I didn't remember most of it and wasn't going to Google it.
Not now. Not with the casino a half a mile away.
I parked the car and took out a cigarette from a pack I kept in the trunk for just such an occasion: shitting your pants, getting kicked out of an outlet mall, trying to buy cocaine, and then getting kicked out of a firework stand.
I called it Old Smokey.
Tulalip Casino is a majestic building that greets you with fountains and lights and all the majesty of realizing you are about to lose money you don't have to a video game themed on the premise of milking money out of a cow.
As you enter, the smoke comes on you like hot fudge on a sundae if hot fudge was smoke and you were a sundae. The atmosphere reminds you of a wedding some uncle had before he went to jail for a crime that the family will not acknowledge in public. From room to room you feel that rush of being a racial minority for the first time in your life, only to become just another white guy leering at a cocktail waitress behind aviator glasses in the next room - complicating this is the fact that you're Korean.
There's an aroma of food under the nicotine and perfume, but you can't quite make out what it might be. It could be spare ribs or it could be Pad Thai, but what it won't be is good. There is no good food made by human beings that can be carried from poker table to poker table in a plastic sack. Sure, there's the nice restaurant where you sit down and eat your food at a table instead of in your car crying as you try to figure out how you're going to tell your wife that you lost the life savings and all you got out of it was a free bag of sliders and fries...but you don't want to sit down and eat food like a human. You want to gamble.
Like most casinos, the Tulalip has a club you can join to lose money within a kind of fraternal order of losers. Sure, you'll get free money and smokes and food, but those things just keep you anchored to that casino. No, the real pros skip the club and lose on their own terms.
Like me. It was time to lose money the only way I knew: video slots. Video slots are like the slot machines of old, only they have little video games within them where you get entertained as you pay for three computers and a college education for a Tulalip Nation member's family. There are bonuses, free spins, and even quests where you lose money by way of slaying dragons or orcs or zombies.
I slid a hundred in and began navigating a gnome around a fairytale castle hoping to hit the jackpot that would possibly pay off my car, but certainly wouldn't make me a rich man. As I slid hundred after hundred in the machine, the damn gnome continued to get lost in the flower city of Zambel. I shouted at the gnome "JESUS, WILL YOU PICK THE CORRECT DOOR - THIS IS COSTING ME MONEY!" But the gnome failed to pick the right door and I was out 800 dollars.
I went to the bar.
THE CASINO AND BEYOND
"At least I can get drunk now." I was left to my own shame in a bar in the casino, nursing a beer and trying to imagine how to rob the Wal Mart next door and actually make any money.
I had another half hour before I would have to meet my wife and explain how we couldn't have kids now.
"You seem down on your luck." The bartender looked at me from behind a mask of years of inbreeding. His eyes were fused and his cycloptic movements made me cringe as he pushed a matchbook across the table to me. "Meet this man at the city limits."
"You mean the Exit door?"
"Yes."
I couldn't possibly see how this man (T.C. said the matchbook) or any other man could help me out in the predicament the Native Americans had put me in. Oh, who was I kidding, it was my fault!
And the Native Americans. And my wife's. If she wouldn't have shit her pants on the way home - but I must not blame, I thought.
"Hear you need a job, kid." It was Tom Cruise.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"I own this place."
"Really?"
"Hell no. I had to take a piss on the way home from Canada. You lose some money?"
"It's true, Mr. Cruise! I am guilty of gambling! But the Native Americans made me do it. It was some ancient curse, some demon that -"
"Speaking of ancient curses - have you heard about Xenu?"
"No."
"Good. Now, I hear you need some money."
"YES! I DO! Did the cyclops tell you?"
"The...no, that's John Travolta."
"He's a bartender?"
"No. He's a drunk. Look, you want to make some money or not?"
"I don't have to...?" I made a gesture with the hotdog I always keep in my pocket for just such instances.
"Let me just show you."
THE NEXT DAY
